Church Newspaper Brings Income…and New Parishioners

There’s a church in Colorado, after ten years of printing and distributing “tracks,” a small color brochure, that decided to switch to a short-run newspaper instead. They’d deliver it exactly the same kind of way—door to door, dropping it off at businesses and gathering places and to their own parishioners.  The newspaper offered more room for content, a sense of professional publishing and, far different than anything they’d done before, allowed for advertising from the local community.  It was worth giving a shot. The results were almost unbelievable…even almost too good to be true…but they were true.  And it happened again in their second issue, and their third…This little newspaper, first of all, not only paid for itself from the advertising from local merchants, but the church actually made money,, money … Read entire article »

Newspapers Finding Their Niche – Newsprint cheaper than newsletters

It’s agreed universally that the newspaper industry is not only changing, but changing drastically as they’ve had to re-evaluate their business model…the day of the daily is gone, and everybody knows it.So what can be done with newsprint?Newsprint is, by far, the cheapest form of print media in the world.  It is, by every standard, the most recognizable print media in the world and, as all research indicates, is still (by so far as to be unbelievable) the most trusted media in the world–more than radio, television and the Internet…combined!Which of course means that newsprint isn’t dead…it just needs another assignment.  It needs to be used in a way that people need it, not how it needs them.  Newsprint, as a final kind of joke, needs not to tell other … Read entire article »
